Welcome to Our Bee Sanctuary

Beema Honey Bee Sanctuary was set up as a research center to see how native Indonesian bee species can help organic farms through natural pollination without the risk of harmful chemicals and pesticides. Beema Honey Bee Sanctuary is home to the native Apis Cerana honey bee and 4 different types of stingless bees

Beema Honey bee sanctuary is a partnership between BSP Farm and Beema Honey. Commercial farming can be destructive to the environment and ecosystem. We want to show that organic farming supported by bee pollination with non-use of pesticides is not only a viable farming method but also helps restore the ecosystem.

Apis Cerana Bee

Apis Cerana Bees are commonly known as the Asian Honey Bee. They are native to Southern, South Eastern and Eastern Asia. They were divided into 8 subspecies with these being Apis Cerana Javana (Javan Honey Bee) stretching from Java to East Timur but recent genetic analysis have instead chosen to subdivide into 6 main statistically-defined populations and now called Indo-Malayan cerana extending from Southern Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia to Palawan in the Philippines.

There are over 500 species of stingless bees in the world but if you are from Europe and North America chances are you have never heard of them. They only live in tropical and subtropical regions. Stingless bees produce a honey that is less viscous and is darker than honey bees, traditionally having a citrus sour sweet taste. They are highly prized for their medicinal use and said to have one of the highest anti-bacterial levels of any honey in the world. While they only produce small amounts of honey , they also produce up to 7 times more propolis than honey bees.
